The Service and the Food are excellent. Also the design of the rooms are great, very comfortable and nice terrace with a bathtub. The staff of the hotel are always friendly and making sure you are comfortable.

“Spectacular!”
We were welcomed warmly by the extremely friendly staff, got a fresh beverage upon arrival and were immediately blown away by the breathtaking view on the lagune. We even got a free room upgrade, which totally suprised us! The access to the lagoon as well as the amazing pool are the star features of this accommodation! The first evening we even got the chance to have dinner on the ponton on the lagune, which is definitely a must do! The food was amazing and the service was fabulous! We want to thank Puerta del Cielo Hotel Origin Bacalar and its team for the amazing stay! We would very much like to come back in the future! A definite recommendation for everyone wanting to visit Bacalar!

“Exceptional views, staff and service”
It was my first time in Bacalar and i have to say this hotel exceeded my expectations. As soon as we reached the hotel, we were given refreshments and the staff quickly checked us in and transferred our luggages to our room. Our room was the highlight as it was overlooking the stunningly blue lagoon. The hotel and the surrounding area was peaceful. The hotel service and staff were exceptional - anything we needed fixing was fixed in less than 30 minutes. The food - wow!! You have to try their menu atleast once. The portions were big which was great value for money. We spent most of our time in the hotel, lounging in the pool area and ordering drinks and food. The chefs are incredible as they explain each and every dish - you can tell how much thought has gone into preparing each dish. I had an absolutely amazing time in Bacalar, and one of the main highlights was this hotel. Highly recommended. Thank you to the whole team!

Every room is for two adults. The doubles are 40 m² with a queen bed and a terrace, facing the garden or with a partial lagoon view. The suites are 60 m² and face the lagoon, and the largest, the Grand Studio Suite and the Superior Suite, are 80 m².

On all five dates we checked, from December 2026 to June 2027, three nights for two, room only with taxes included, cost $722 in a garden-view double, $823 with a lagoon view and $939 in a lagoon-view suite on refundable rates. Non-refundable rates were about 9% cheaper.
Pay for the lagoon view, and check the bed. The view is what guests remember most. Two guests found the queen beds smaller than expected, and one guest on the ground floor felt the room lacked privacy, so ask for an upper floor. There is no fridge in the rooms.

They describe waking up to the colours of the lagoon, soaking in the terrace bathtub at night, beautiful gardens and design, a welcome drink and thoughtful touches in the room. Several say the restaurant beats many in the area, with generous portions, dinner on the dock and breakfast on the balcony. Staff are praised for fixing things fast, surprising couples on birthdays and, for one couple, a free upgrade.
The complaints are about location and space. Guests note that you need a taxi into town, which can take 20 minutes or more to arrive. A few found too few loungers by the lagoon and pool or limited space on the dock, no kayaks (there is a rental place about 200 m away), small queen beds, little room at breakfast and no fridge. One guest found the lagoon too deep here for wading, and one guest mentions mosquitoes.
