Presidente InterContinental Cozumel is a five-star resort at Km 6.5 on the island's west coast, south of San Miguel. It is best known for snorkeling straight off its own beach and for the dive shop on site. Guests score it 9.2 out of 10 across 1,238 reviews. Rates are room only, and guests find the restaurants pricey. Check live prices for your dates below.

Why Guests Choose It

  • Snorkeling straight off the beach: guests describe a reef and a small lagoon full of fish, and one guest saw more fish here than on a boat tour.
  • A dive shop and dock on site, so dives and snorkel trips leave from the hotel instead of town.
  • Two pools, a busy family infinity pool by the beach and a quieter adults' pool, plus a spa, gym and tennis courts.
  • Low-rise grounds of no more than two storeys, with rentable beach cabanas, including some over the water.
  • A 9.99 score for service from guests, who name front-desk, restaurant and dive staff.

Best for

  • Snorkelers and divers who want the reef on their doorstep
  • Couples and families who want a quiet, high-end base
  • IHG members who want a brand they know

Think twice if

  • You want to walk to town: it is at Km 6.5 south of San Miguel, so you need taxis or a rental car
  • You want everything included: rates are room only or with breakfast, and guests find the restaurants pricey
  • You want a quick check-in: some guests waited well past 3pm for their room

“My stay is very relaxing and happy.”

I love everything about this place, location, restaurant, and staff are very friendly and accommodating and it’s very exclusive for the quest only.

“Beautiful reef from shore and great food.”

The food in the restaurants is really good. Prices are higher compared to outside the resort, but for us it was worth it! The reef in front of the resort is beautiful. You can just snorkel it from the beach. Best snorkeling from shore that I have ever done.

Certain beds and cabins around the pool are for rent. That is to me rediculous. We pay a decent price to stay at the resort but they still want 100 euro for a bed with mattress or cabana. Regular beds are free.

“Great”

Beautiful place - well located - hotel facilities really nice - Restaurants with very good food -

too many rooms - you can finish in a room located very far from the main facilities (e.g. restaurants - gym )

Prices peak in February. In our price checks for three nights for two, room only and refundable, a Classic room cost $732 in early December 2026 and $822 in mid-January 2027 with taxes included, then $1,027 in mid-February, $733 in mid-March and $726 in mid-June 2027 plus about $90 in taxes. A Premium Pool Access room started at $946 in December.

Breakfast rates cover adults only. With breakfast, the Classic room cost $796 in December and $890 in January, but the hotel says children pay for breakfast separately. Guests rate the breakfast buffet highly.

Ask for an upper-floor sea view. One family found the ground-floor rooms less pleasant and recommended upper floors with an ocean view, and two guests ended up in rooms far from the restaurants and gym. Two guests were given a free upgrade on arrival.

What Guests Say About Presidente InterContinental Cozumel

Across 1,238 reviews, Presidente InterContinental Cozumel holds a 9.2 out of 10. The 120 most recent reviews, from June to late October 2026, average 9.4, with 72 perfect 10s and only three scores of 5 or lower.

The snorkeling is the star. Guests describe crystal-clear water, a reef and a small lagoon right in front of the resort, and one called it the best snorkeling from shore they had ever done. Divers like having the dive shop and dock on site, and guests praise the beach, the pools, the jacuzzi and the breakfast buffet. Several call it the best resort on the island.

The staff get top marks. Guests name front-desk staff, waiters and dive instructors, mention a WhatsApp concierge, and describe late check-outs granted for free.

The complaints are about money and waiting. About ten guests found the restaurants expensive for the quality, and a few found restaurant and room service slow. Three waited for their room well after the 3pm check-in time, one until after 5pm. Others mention noisy air-conditioning, rooms far from the facilities, and beds and cabanas by the pool that cost extra.

What You Should Know

  • Bring your mask. The reef in front of the beach is the reason most guests rave about this hotel.
  • Budget for eating out or for pricey hotel meals. Rates are room only, and the nearest town restaurants are a taxi ride away.
  • Plan a late lunch on arrival. Some guests' rooms were not ready at 3pm.
  • Book a cabana early if you want one. The over-water cabanas are a highlight, but beds and cabanas cost extra.

Getting to Presidente InterContinental Cozumel

The resort is at Km 6.5 on the Carretera a Chankanaab, on Cozumel's sheltered west coast south of San Miguel. Guests say it is a little out of the way, so plan on taxis or a rental car to explore. See our Cozumel airport transfer guide, or our Playa del Carmen to Cozumel ferry guide if you are arriving by boat.

The west coast is the calm side of the island, and recent guests found the beach free of seaweed. Our Cozumel snorkeling guide and Cozumel diving guide cover the reefs further south, and our Cozumel sargassum guide explains which beaches get seaweed.
