“Perfect boutique hotel in paradise”
We were thoroughly impressed with this hotel. Even with construction next door, it appeared the hotel did everything they could for you to avoid it. They have the best beach club on holbox. It is quiet, serene, and beautiful. This is not a huge resort…very much a boutique experience. Really good air conditioning in the room and great decor! One day, we got off of a boat from an excursion and I was so pleasantly surprised. Fernando saw us arriving and greeted us with fresh towels to enjoy the beach with! Truly the most hospitable staff! Laura also went out of her way daily to make sure everyone was happy! If you go to this hotel, make sure you get a spa treatment. It is right there in a secluded hut on the beach! Truly a perfect place!

Good gym, manager tried to rectify things but staff need to up their game and you will never change the small cramped spot on a busy stretch. Of beach which is noisy.
Very small beach front which feels cramped and loud. There is building work next door so loud and dusty. For the money I would stay somewhere else on playa Norte. Service from staff slow in restaurants and everything had to be repeated multiple times

“Excellent hotel”
A very positive experience. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The room was beautiful with comfy pillows and super comfy bed. Very clean and spacious with lovely toiletries. My room did overlook the roadway which for some might be a little noisy but it did not bother me. I ate breakfast in the restaurant and was very nice. Lovely friendly staff and a beautiful setting overlooking the beach club. I used the facilities at the beach club and they were good. The staff always on hand for drinks and food. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is around 10 minutes walk from the main Holbox centre. There is a dog refuge centre close by where you can take a dog for a walk which was rewarding as a dog lover !!

“100% a thumbs up!”
I selfishly hate to give this one such a good review as we would love to keep it to ourselves lol. The room, the views, the beach and the location were all amazing. My only constructive criticism is the mattress quality - not your typical Marriott bed - I would expect more from a Marriott resort as my back killed me due to the poor mattress quality. Nonetheless- During our week in Holbox - we were made to feel very much at home at The Mystique. I can’t say enough about how peaceful it was (despite some construction next door). The real star of the show however is the staff - particularly at the beach club - from morning until close each person at the beach club/Fresco restaurant made us feel very special and went out of their way to ensure our experience was a magical one. Thank you to everyone at Mystique for making our trip a lifelong memory we will cherish!

“Great location - for the price could be a better guest experience”
Location was good - short walk to town Rooms spacious for families Small and boutique Access to own beach with beds Having a pool a nice bonus
Pool could do with daily cleaning - lots of iguana poo and leaves / sand and green algae formed during our stay so last day I didn’t let my child in the small kids pool Beach restaurant such a wasted opportunity- no vibe yet prime location for sunset Cocktails were very hit and miss Overly expensive for food so no one eats here We didn’t have breakfast - I recommend you don’t either and eat in town as so many great options Next door there is a huge building site development happening, we were lucky as our final day on check out they really got going with the heavy machinery and it was noise all day into the evening - no warning of this either from hotel which I think is poorly communicated to guests Also lots of maintenance happening such as painting and fixing broken things but this should be done out of season ideally overnight

February is the priciest month we checked. For three nights for two in a refundable Deluxe Junior Suite, room only and taxes included, we found $505 in early December 2026, $566 in mid-January 2027, $714 in mid-February and $657 in mid-March. In mid-June a breakfast rate was cheaper than room only, at $490. An ocean-view suite cost $779 in March. The hotel also charges an environmental tax of MXN 33.94 per guest per night.
Ask which way your suite faces. In 2026 one guest's ocean-front suite looked onto the snack bar, one couple was given two doubles instead of the bed they booked, and a few rooms faced the road or the building site next door. Request a room away from the construction and the lift.
What Guests Say About Mystique Holbox
Across 257 reviews, Mystique Holbox holds a 9.2 out of 10, but 2026 has been bumpier. The 56 reviews from January to early October 2026 average 8.1, with 15 perfect 10s and five scores of 5 or lower.
Guests like the rooms, the location and some of the staff. They describe clean, spacious, nicely designed suites, comfortable beds, a short walk into the village and a beach club with loungers and waiter service. Several name staff who made their stay, and one guest singled out the Mayan shrimp cocktail at lunch.
Construction next door is the biggest issue in 2026. Nine guests from January to August mention building work beside the hotel, some describing noise from about 8am to 6pm or later, and dust. A few barely noticed it.
Service and food come next. Guests describe slow service at the beach club and restaurant, small and pricey meals, a set breakfast menu that was not flexible, and one guest objected to a rule against bringing your own drinks to the beach while vendors sold food there. Others mention a small, cramped stretch of beach, a pool that needed cleaning, poor mattresses, weak shower pressure and rooms not ready at 3pm.
What You Should Know
- Ask for a room away from the construction site when you book, and again at check-in.
- Eat in the village. Guests found hotel meals slow and pricey, and many restaurants are a short walk away.
- Skip the breakfast rate unless it is cheaper. Guests found the set menu limited, though in June it cost less than room only.
- Use the free bikes to explore the island.
