“INCREDIBLE”

Our stay in Tulum truly would not have been the same without the invaluable help of Enrique, Daniel and Fernando. Whenever we had a question, a small issue, or a specific need, they always managed to find a solution that was perfectly adapted to us, with so much kindness, attention, and professionalism. Their support really made all the difference. We had such a magical experience at this hotel. We don’t want to say too much and spoil the surprise for future guests, but we were genuinely impressed by everything — the place, the atmosphere, the thoughtful details, and above all, the incredible hospitality. Everything seems to be designed to make your stay truly special, and that’s exactly how we felt. And of course, we have to mention Petronillo, the adorable hotel cat and unofficial mascot! He welcomed us with so much love and added an extra touch of warmth and charm to our stay. 🐈‍⬛ We left with so many beautiful memories and, honestly, we already miss it. This was a truly unforgettable experience, and

We had an absolutely wonderful experience during our stay. The facilities are excellent and the entire property is beautifully maintained. The pool is stunning and perfect for relaxing, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. What really impressed us was the attention to detail – the rooms are cleaned daily, which was much appreciated. The breakfast each morning was delicious with a great variety of options to choose from. The staff deserves special mention. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs throughout our entire stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they made us feel very welcome. All in all, this is a fantastic property with top-notch service. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great getaway. Thank you for a truly memorable stay!

“Paradise in Tulum”

We had a beautiful stay at Una Vida, it's honestly a little bit of paradise in Tulum. We stayed in the tropical room with the plunge pool and it was amazing. The pool was great for cooling off after a day out and it was so nice to have some private space. The hotel pool area is gorgeous and the drinks and food were great and reasonably priced for the convenience. We had the breakfast included and I would definitely recommend it. We spent an afternoon at the Hotel Bardo pool as well, it's a slightly edgier vibe and also great. I wish we'd had more time to try out the yoga classes. We also hired bikes at the front desk which was super convenient and cycled out to Tulum Ruins.

Very minor but there wasn't always someone at reception and we had to message the team and wait a couple times. This didn't really impact our stay much. The room could also do with a normal height chair, the beds are very high up

“Premium boutique hotel in a jungle setting”

Really cool boutique hotel design in a jungle setting. Nicely decorated and comfortable room with private plunge pool. Great layout and pool area. Food was high standard.

The hotel is a bit remote, requiring a not so nice walk in to town. Inflated prices when booking taxis through the hotel.

December is the cheapest time we checked. For three nights for two, a refundable Tropical Room with terrace, room only, cost $399 plus $90 in taxes in early December 2026, then $725 in mid-January, $610 in mid-February, $556 in mid-March and $651 in mid-June 2027 with taxes included. Non-refundable rates with breakfast were often cheaper than room only, for example $365 plus $90 in December.

Weigh up the plunge pool. With breakfast, a plunge-pool room cost $722 plus $90 in mid-January and $550 plus $90 in mid-March. Guests who had one loved the privacy, but one found theirs poorly filtered and another found it too cold to use.

What Guests Say About Una Vida

Across 577 reviews, Una Vida holds a 9.4 out of 10. The 120 most recent reviews, from August 2025 to October 2026, average 9.0, with 62 perfect 10s and five scores of 5 or lower.

Guests love the setting and the staff. They describe a calm jungle hideaway in the middle of Tulum, with beautiful design, comfortable rooms cleaned daily and two pools that feel like cenotes. They name staff who arranged tours, transport and reservations, and one couple was given a packed breakfast for an early excursion. Many like being able to use the pools, yoga classes and restaurants of the sister hotels Bardo and Milam.

Breakfast and food get good marks, though a few found the breakfast choice limited and the restaurant pricey, with one quoting 230 pesos for a double espresso.

The complaints are about the basics and the jungle. Several guests missed a TV, a fridge or a kettle in the room. Two complained about noise, from staff radios to cleaning and evening sound. The restaurant was closed during two stays, with breakfast at Bardo or room service instead. Others mention the shaded pool and damp cushions, hard beds, a water cut, a large deposit at check-in, a rough 100 m of road for drivers and a not-so-pleasant walk into town.

What You Should Know

  • Use Bardo and Milam. Guests can reach Bardo's pool through the garden, and Milam's sunny pool suits tanning better than Una Vida's shaded one.
  • Pack insect repellent and earplugs. You are in the jungle, and some guests heard noise at night.
  • Plan taxis for the beach. The hotel is near town, not the sea, and one guest found taxis booked through the hotel overpriced.
  • Check the breakfast rate. Non-refundable rates with breakfast often cost less than room only.

Getting to Una Vida

Una Vida sits in a patch of jungle just off Avenida Tulum, a few minutes' walk from the town's main street but well away from the beaches. Drivers should take the last 100 m slowly, as the road is badly damaged. See our Tulum airport transfer guide for ways to get there.

Our guide to things to do in Tulum covers the ruins, beaches and cenotes, our Tulum cenote tour guide lists the best swims nearby, and our Tulum sargassum guide explains when seaweed reaches the beaches.
