Isla Mujeres has no large resort strip: the 10 hotels in this guide include three all-inclusives, two more adults-only hotels, and a handful of Playa Norte and town-center boutiques on a small Caribbean island 13km from Cancún. We rank them for 2026 with verified guest scores, sample-date prices, and honest write-ups for couples, families, and value travelers.
What You Should Know
- Isla Mujeres is an 8km island 13km northeast of Cancún, reached by a 15 to 20 minute passenger ferry from Puerto Juárez (about 45 minutes from the Hotel Zone); ferries run every 30 to 45 minutes throughout the day with the last service around 11 PM.
- The 10 hotels here started from about $55 a night at Fitz-Mar to about $895 at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets on our sample dates, before taxes. Three sold all-inclusive rates on every sample date: Impression, Devossion by Live Aqua and MÍA Reef; Privilege Aluxes sells an optional all-inclusive plan.
- Playa Norte, the island's calm north beach with shallow turquoise water, is where most hotels cluster; Impression at the south end and Devossion on the west coast offer more seclusion but are a golf cart ride from the beach and restaurants.
- Isla Mujeres has no large resort strip; outside the Impression (Secrets) and Devossion (Live Aqua) flags, most stays are independent boutiques where service quality varies more than in Cancún's all-inclusive corridor.
Hotels in Isla Mujeres: What the Rankings Actually Show
The best hotel in Isla Mujeres for most first-time visitors is Ixchel Beach Hotel (from about $245 a night on our sample dates): it sits directly on Playa Norte, has one of the largest review bases on the island, and works equally well for couples and families. For all-inclusive stays, Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets is the adults-only luxury option (9.4/10, from about $895) and Devossion by Live Aqua is the quieter west-coast pick (9.4/10, from about $356). For adults-only without a bundled package, Privilege Aluxes (8.6/10, from about $218) is the most walkable and best-documented pick on the island.
Most people visiting Isla Mujeres for the first time arrive on a catamaran day trip from Cancún and leave planning when to come back for a proper stay. The island is small enough to cover by golf cart and has a character that Cancún's Hotel Zone doesn't: independent restaurants, no chain hotels at scale, and a beach (Playa Norte) known for calm, clear water. The trade-off is that hotel supply is limited, and we think the quality gap between the top properties and the mid-market ones is wider than it looks on paper. This guide covers the 10 best hotels in Isla Mujeres for 2026, organized by category: all-inclusive, adults-only, and beachfront, boutique or value stays. Prices on our sample dates ranged from about $55 a night at Fitz-Mar to about $895 at Impression, before taxes, and the hotels map below shows where each property sits on the island. Our guide to the best things to do in Isla Mujeres covers what to fill your days with, and our guide to the best things to do in Cancún covers what to combine with an island stay.
Best Hotels in Isla Mujeres at a Glance
| Traveler Type | Best Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best adults-only all-inclusive | Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets | Butler-style service, infinity pools, south-island seclusion; 9.4/10 from 283 reviews |
| Best quiet all-inclusive | Devossion by Live Aqua | West-coast setting away from the crowds; 9.4/10 from 898 reviews |
| All-inclusive on Playa Norte | MÍA Reef | Islet setting at the north tip with reef access; read our note on recent reviews first |
| Best adults-only walkability | Privilege Aluxes | Near Playa Norte and town center, spa, optional all-inclusive plan |
| Best Playa Norte location | Ixchel Beach Hotel | Prime beach frontage for families and couples |
| Best small boutique in town | The Mermaid and The Pearl | Rooftop pool, free bikes, a short walk to Playa Norte; 9.3/10 from 322 reviews |
| Best budget | Fitz-Mar | Lowest sample rate on this list, from about $55, in the town center |
Playa Norte (North Beach)
The island's most in-demand stretch: calm, shallow turquoise water with white sand and a walkable connection to the main town area. Ixchel Beach Hotel, Lotus Beach Hotel, Casa del Jaguar, Na Balam and Privilege Aluxes are all in or near this zone. MÍA Reef sits on a small islet just off the north beach edge. We'd give this the edge for first-timers, anyone who wants a beach-and-town combination, and families. Playa Norte fills with day-trippers from Cancún catamaran tours from late morning through early afternoon; the beach is noticeably quieter before 10 AM and after 4 PM. Our Playa Norte guide covers the beach itself, from the ferry crossing to checking for sargassum.
Centro (Town Center)
The main ferry landing area, with restaurants, golf cart rentals, souvenir shops, and the market. Two hotels on this list sit right in Centro: The Mermaid and The Pearl on Avenida Juárez and Fitz-Mar on Avenida Madero, both a short walk from Playa Norte and the ferry. Privilege Aluxes is also close to both Centro and Playa Norte. If you want to explore independently, staying at this end of the island gives you the most options without relying on a cart.
South Island (Punta Sur)
Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets sits at the south end of the island in the Mar Turquesa area. The setting is more secluded and dramatic than the north end, with ocean views and a quieter atmosphere. The trade-off is distance from Playa Norte and the town; guests at Impression mostly use the resort as the destination. We'd reserve the south end for travelers who already know the island or specifically want seclusion over easy Playa Norte access.
Mid-Island (West Coast)
Devossion by Live Aqua, formerly Izla Hotel by Fiesta Americana, sits on the west coast at Sac Bajo, in a quieter part of the island between the south tip and Playa Norte. This location is less busy than the north end, with a resort feel and a calm, sheltered west-facing beach. It does not have the shallow sandbar that makes Playa Norte so distinctive, so most guests take golf carts up to Playa Norte when they want the full north-beach experience.
Best All-Inclusive Hotels in Isla Mujeres
Three hotels on this list sold all-inclusive rates on every one of our sample dates: Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets at the ultra-luxury south end, Devossion by Live Aqua (formerly Izla Hotel) on the quieter west coast, and MÍA Reef on a small islet at Playa Norte. The biggest difference between them is what you're paying for: butler service and seclusion at Impression, a calm west-coast setting at Devossion, and location novelty at MÍA Reef. MÍA Reef's beach is the islet perimeter itself, not Playa Norte proper; you can walk to the main beach in a few minutes via the connecting walkway, but you're not on Playa Norte the way Ixchel or Na Balam guests are.

Beyond Impression, Isla Mujeres has two hotels on this list designed specifically for adult guests: Privilege Aluxes near Playa Norte and the town center, and Lotus Beach Hotel directly on Playa Norte. We'd think of them as two distinct formats: Privilege Aluxes for walkability, amenity depth and the option of an all-inclusive plan, and Lotus Beach for Playa Norte frontage at a very small scale.

A long-standing Playa Norte boutique with a garden setting and yoga programme, priced below its beachfront neighbours.

The Mermaid and The Pearl Boutique Hotel
Owner-run boutique B&B in the town center with a rooftop pool, free bikes and beach gear, a short walk from Playa Norte.

Search all resorts & dates →Best Isla Mujeres Hotels: Our Full Picks
Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets
Impression scores 9.4/10 from 283 reviews and is the ultra-luxury, adults-only all-inclusive on the island, from about $895 a night on our sample dates, before taxes. It sits in the secluded Mar Turquesa area at the south end and runs on a butler-style model with tiered infinity pools, multiple restaurants, and ocean-view suites. The south-island location puts you a golf cart ride from Playa Norte and the town; Impression works as a self-contained destination, not a base for exploring on foot. Its highest rates on our sample dates were in mid-November and early December. We'd book this for honeymoons and anniversaries where privacy and service matter most.
Devossion by Live Aqua (formerly Izla Hotel by Fiesta Americana)
The former Izla Hotel now trades as Devossion by Live Aqua Celebration Resort & Spa and scores 9.4/10 from 898 reviews. It sold all-inclusive rates on every one of our sample dates, from about $356 a night before taxes, with little seasonal swing. The hotel sits on the quieter west coast at Sac Bajo, on a calm, sheltered beach without Playa Norte's shallow sandbar, so most guests rent a golf cart for trips north. Many guest reviews still use the old Izla name, and a few 2026 reviewers wanted more restaurant choice, so check what is open during your dates.
MÍA Reef Isla Mujeres
MÍA Reef is a casual all-inclusive on a small islet connected to Playa Norte by a walkway, from about $307 a night on our sample dates, before taxes. The location and reef snorkeling access are the main draws. Its guest score is 7.3/10 from 619 reviews, the lowest on this list, and several 2026 reviews describe dated rooms and maintenance issues such as mildew in showers and a building in need of updating; a few also mention sargassum on the islet beach. Unusually, its May and July sample rates were higher than November and December. Book it for the setting, with eyes open; if service refinement matters more, Impression or Devossion is the better call.
Privilege Aluxes
Privilege Aluxes scores 8.6/10 from 1,525 reviews, the largest review base of any hotel on this list, and starts from about $218 a night on our sample dates, before taxes. It sits near Playa Norte and the town center, making it the most walkable adults-only option on Isla Mujeres, with spa facilities, pools, and multiple restaurants. It also sells an optional all-inclusive plan: on our sample dates, all-inclusive rates started from about $318 a night, alongside cheaper breakfast-included rates. We'd lean toward Privilege Aluxes for adults who want to explore the island on their own terms.
Lotus Beach Hotel
Lotus Beach Hotel is a small adults-only boutique on Playa Norte with plunge-pool and jacuzzi-style room options, from about $454 a night on our sample dates, before taxes. Its partner score is 9.8/10 from 188 reviews, but recent reviews are mixed: several describe an outdated property and tired furnishings, while others praise the staff and the calm water in front. We'd only book it if you specifically want a very small adults-only stay on Playa Norte and have read the latest reviews.
Ixchel Beach Hotel
Ixchel Beach Hotel sits on Playa Norte with direct beach access and an easy walk to town restaurants and golf cart rental shops, from about $245 a night on our sample dates, before taxes. Prices swing more than at most hotels here; our February sample was about $791. Our booking partner shows no guest score for Ixchel at the moment, so we list none, but recent reviews have been posted regularly. We'd choose this for first-timers, families, and couples who want the simplest version of the island: the best beach, a walkable town, no complicated logistics.
Casa del Jaguar Beach Hotel
Casa del Jaguar scores 8.9/10 from 303 reviews and starts from about $448 a night on our sample dates, before taxes, as a small luxury boutique on Playa Norte with a suite-style layout. It shares a stretch of beach with Na Balam next door, and one 2026 reviewer noted the two are very similar, so compare both on your dates. Some reviewers mention excursion boats moored off this part of the beach.
Na Balam Beach & Spa Boutique Hotel
Na Balam scores 8.4/10 from 648 reviews and starts from about $217 a night on our sample dates, before taxes, as a longstanding Playa Norte boutique with tropical garden character and a yoga programme. It delivers on location and atmosphere more consistently than on polish. Our take: Na Balam suits travelers who value the Playa Norte position over a refined product.
The Mermaid and The Pearl Boutique Hotel
The Mermaid and The Pearl scores 9.3/10 from 322 reviews and starts from about $124 a night on our sample dates, before taxes. It is a small owner-run boutique B&B on Avenida Juárez in the town center, with a rooftop pool, free bikes, and beach chairs and umbrellas guests can borrow. Reviewers describe it as a five-minute walk to Playa Norte, quiet at night despite being one street from the restaurant strip. One reviewer noted it feels more like a guesthouse than a conventional hotel, and a few mention street noise, so it suits travelers who want a personal stay rather than full hotel service.
Fitz-Mar
Fitz-Mar scores 8.6/10 from 423 reviews and has the lowest sample rate on this list, from about $55 a night before taxes and rarely above about $97. It is a simple hotel on Avenida Madero in the town center, close to the ferry and a short walk from Playa Norte, and reviewers mention free beach towels. A few guests reported rooms that were slow to cool down. We'd book it for budget travelers who plan to spend their days out on the island.
Our Take
For a first stay, the north end (Playa Norte and Centro) makes the island easiest: beach, restaurants and the ferry are all walkable. The south and west-coast resorts reward travelers who want seclusion and are happy to rely on a golf cart.
Tips for Booking a Hotel in Isla Mujeres
- Book the ferry before you assume it's convenient: Passenger ferries from Puerto Juárez run every 30 to 45 minutes throughout the day, but Hotel Zone ferries are less frequent. If you are arriving late or planning evening activities in Cancún, verify the last ferry time from your specific departure point before committing to an Isla Mujeres hotel that night.
- Rent a golf cart on the day you arrive: Golf carts rent for roughly $65 to $100 per day in 2026 and are the standard way to move around the island (our golf cart rental guide has prices, rules and a route). Booking directly from a local shop (not through the hotel) is usually cheaper. If you are staying at the south end or on the west coast, having a cart from arrival day matters more than at the north end. The island is only 8km long, so even south-end properties are a 15 to 20 minute ride from Playa Norte.
- Check what "all-inclusive" includes: MÍA Reef, Impression and Devossion sell all-inclusive rates, and Privilege Aluxes offers an optional plan. Inclusion lists, premium spirits policies, and specialty restaurant access differ, so confirm the current inclusions directly with the hotel before booking.
- Read recent reviews for small properties: Small hotels such as Lotus Beach Hotel and Casa del Jaguar can shift quickly with a few stays, and Lotus's recent reviews are more mixed than its overall score suggests. Read the latest individual reviews rather than relying on the aggregate.
- Prices swing by hotel, not just by season: On our sample dates, February was the most expensive date at most Playa Norte hotels, Impression was dearest in mid-November and early December, and MÍA Reef was dearer in May and July. Compare your exact dates in the booking cards. The main trade-off in summer is higher humidity and afternoon rain showers; our guide to Cancún in summer covers what to expect from June through September.
- Want to snorkel straight from the island? Isla Mujeres has its own snorkel tours leaving from the dock, covering Manchones Reef, MUSA and private options. Our Isla Mujeres snorkeling guide covers the best tours and the spots you can explore without a boat.
- Many day tours depart from Cancún: Tours to Isla Contoy, Chichén Itzá, and Cancún's snorkeling reefs typically depart from the Cancún Hotel Zone or Puerto Juárez. Whale shark tours, which run roughly mid-May to mid-September, leave from both Cancún and the island. If you are staying on the island, confirm whether your tour includes Isla Mujeres pickup or whether you need to ferry back to Cancún first.
- Visiting in January? Our Isla Mujeres in January guide covers the calm, dry peak season when overnight stays pay off most, with boutique rates softest in the second half of the month.
- Visiting in February? Our Isla Mujeres in February guide covers the island's best couples month: dry-season calm, the Valentine's window, and which dates to book around the busy mid-month peak.
- Visiting in March? Our Isla Mujeres in March guide covers using the island as a calmer base during spring break, with the first week the best value before the crowds, and how to plan around sargassum, which is variable.
- Visiting in April? Our Isla Mujeres in April guide covers the busy Easter peak early and the quiet, good-value shoulder after mid-month, when overnight stays are some of the best value of the year.
- Visiting in May? Our Isla Mujeres in May guide covers the low-season month when whale shark season opens and room rates fall to among the cheapest of the year.
- Visiting in June? Our Isla Mujeres in June guide covers the first full month of whale shark season, still at low summer rates, with daily afternoon showers and variable sargassum to plan around.
- Visiting in July? Our Isla Mujeres in July guide covers peak whale shark season and peak summer demand, when booking your room and tour two to three weeks ahead and staying overnight matter most.
- Visiting in August? Our Isla Mujeres in August guide covers the last reliable whale shark month, with late August offering easing rates and crowds before the season closes in September.
- Visiting in September? Our Isla Mujeres in September guide covers the cheapest, quietest month of the year, when overnight stays are at their best value but the weather risk is highest.
- Visiting in October? Our Isla Mujeres in October guide covers the recovery shoulder, with easing rains, clean beaches, and shoulder-season value before the winter rates arrive.
- Visiting in November? Our Isla Mujeres in November guide covers the dry-season return, one of the best-value months to stay before the December holiday rates begin climbing.
- Visiting in December? Our Isla Mujeres in December guide covers the split month: good-value early December versus the Christmas and New Year peak, the year's most expensive and most booked-out period.
- Visiting from a Cancún resort base? Many guests base in Cancún and do Isla Mujeres as a day trip or overnight extension. Our guide to the best all-inclusive resorts in Cancún covers the main base options, including which Hotel Zone properties are closest to the Puerto Juárez ferry terminal. Our guide to the best hotels in Cancun covers the room-only options if you would rather not buy an all-inclusive package.
How We Selected These Hotels
The Cancun Trip Insider team selected these 10 hotels based on verified guest scores from our booking partner, review volume, recent review activity, bookable rates on our sample dates, location, and property category. We focused on the factors that matter most for island accommodation: beach access, walkability to town, review consistency, and honest representation of the trade-offs at each property. Every hotel on this list had reviews posted within the last six months and bookable rates on at least five of our seven sample dates. Ixchel Beach Hotel is included without a score because our booking partner currently shows none, and we name the properties whose recent reviews are weaker than their overall score (MÍA Reef and Lotus Beach Hotel) rather than hiding them. We dropped properties we could not verify on these points. Prices, guest scores and availability were re-checked on October 12, 2026. Sample-date prices are the lowest nightly rate we found for a three-night stay for two adults on seven dates between November 2026 and July 2027, before taxes and fees; live rates in the booking cards will vary by date.

Privilege Aluxes also offers an optional all-inclusive plan, from about $318 a night on our sample dates. All prices are before taxes.
What happened to Izla Hotel in Isla Mujeres?+
Izla Hotel by Fiesta Americana now operates as Devossion by Live Aqua Celebration Resort & Spa. It is in the same west-coast location at Sac Bajo and sold all-inclusive rates on every one of our sample dates, from about $356 a night before taxes. Many guest reviews still use the Izla name.
What is the best area to stay in Isla Mujeres?+
Playa Norte (the north beach) and the neighbouring town center are the best areas for most visitors: calm turquoise water, walkable restaurants and golf cart rentals, and the highest concentration of hotels. Ixchel Beach Hotel, Privilege Aluxes, Na Balam, Casa del Jaguar, The Mermaid and The Pearl, and Fitz-Mar are all in or near this zone. The south end (Impression) and the west coast (Devossion) are better for couples who want seclusion and are comfortable relying on a golf cart.
How much do hotels in Isla Mujeres cost per night?+
On our sample dates, before taxes, hotels on this list started from about $55 a night at Fitz-Mar to about $895 at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets. Town-center and Playa Norte boutiques such as The Mermaid and The Pearl (about $124), Na Balam (about $217) and Ixchel (about $245) fill the middle. All-inclusives started from about $307 (MÍA Reef), $356 (Devossion) and $895 (Impression). Expect local taxes and fees of roughly 20% on top at checkout.
Is Isla Mujeres good for couples and honeymoons?+
Yes. Isla Mujeres is one of the most popular couples destinations in the Cancún region. Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets is the top all-inclusive honeymoon option with butler service and infinity pools, and Devossion offers a quieter all-inclusive on the west coast. Privilege Aluxes and The Mermaid and The Pearl offer romance at lower price points. The island is small, walkable, and quieter than Cancún's Hotel Zone.
Are there adults-only hotels in Isla Mujeres?+
Yes. This guide includes three adults-only hotels: Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets (all-inclusive, ultra-luxury, from about $895 a night on our sample dates), Privilege Aluxes (from about $218, with an optional all-inclusive plan), and Lotus Beach Hotel (small boutique on Playa Norte, from about $454). All prices are before taxes.
How do you get from Cancún to Isla Mujeres?+
The main ferry route runs from Puerto Juárez in Cancún to Isla Mujeres in about 15 to 20 minutes. Ferries depart every 30 to 45 minutes throughout the day, with service running until around 11 PM. A second ferry runs from the Hotel Zone (Gran Puerto terminal) and takes approximately 45 minutes; it is less frequent but convenient for Hotel Zone travelers. The passenger fare is around $10 to $12 USD each way. There is no vehicle ferry for regular visitors.
Is it better to stay on Isla Mujeres or visit as a day trip?+
A day trip works well if Cancún is your base and Isla Mujeres is one item on your itinerary. Staying one or two nights is worth it if you want the island at its quietest: early morning on Playa Norte before the catamaran day-trippers arrive, sunset in Centro, and dinner at local restaurants. A day trip from Cancún gives you 4 to 6 hours on the island, which covers Playa Norte but little else.
Is Playa Norte the best place to stay in Isla Mujeres?+
For most visitors, yes. Playa Norte is the island's best-known beach: calm, shallow, turquoise water and easy walking distance to restaurants, golf cart rentals, and the ferry. Hotels here and in the neighbouring town center, including Ixchel Beach Hotel, Na Balam, Casa del Jaguar, Privilege Aluxes, The Mermaid and The Pearl, and Fitz-Mar, give you direct or near-direct beach access. The south end and west coast offer more seclusion but trade beach access for privacy.
How many nights should you stay in Isla Mujeres?+
Two nights is the sweet spot for most visitors: enough time to enjoy Playa Norte at its quietest, eat at a few restaurants in Centro, and rent a golf cart to see the whole island in an afternoon. One night works if you want to experience the island overnight and catch the early morning beach, but leaves little time to explore. Three or more nights suits travelers who want to use the island as a proper relaxed base rather than a short extension of a Cancún trip.
Is Isla Mujeres good for families?+
Yes. Playa Norte's calm, shallow water is among the gentlest swimming beaches in the Cancún area for young children. The best family options on this list are Ixchel Beach Hotel (direct Playa Norte frontage, from about $245 a night on our sample dates) and MÍA Reef (all-inclusive with reef access, from about $307, though recent reviews describe dated rooms). The island itself is small, low-traffic, and easy to navigate with kids by golf cart. The adults-only properties are not suited for families.
Is Isla Mujeres expensive?+
Isla Mujeres spans a wide price range. On our sample dates, before taxes, Fitz-Mar started from about $55 a night and The Mermaid and The Pearl from about $124. Playa Norte hotels such as Na Balam, Ixchel and Casa del Jaguar started from about $217 to $448. All-inclusives started from about $307 (MÍA Reef) to $895 (Impression). Restaurants in Centro are affordable by Mexican beach resort standards, and golf cart rental adds $40 to $60 per day.
Do you need a golf cart on Isla Mujeres?+
It depends on where you're staying. If your hotel is at Playa Norte or in Centro (Ixchel, Na Balam, Casa del Jaguar, Privilege Aluxes, The Mermaid and The Pearl, Fitz-Mar), a golf cart is optional; everything you need is walkable. If you're at the south end (Impression) or on the west coast (Devossion), a cart is effectively required to reach Playa Norte and the town. Most travelers staying two or more nights find a cart useful regardless: renting one for a half-day ($25 to $35) to explore Punta Sur, the east coast road, and Centro is worthwhile.
