  • Newly renovated: the resort reopened in May 2026 after closing for a full renovation, and returning guests describe modern suites, new restaurants and a speakeasy bar.
  • Every room is a suite of at least 61 m², and guests say every suite faces the sea, with a hot tub on the balcony.

“I felt the price was appropriate for the service provided. I was able to relax without hearing any noise from the neighb”

This was my fifth trip to Cancun, but we chose Zilara at my wife's request. The hospitality and smiles lived up to our expectations—from staff pausing to greet us to the overall service—and we had a truly wonderful time, perfect for Japanese guests.

“Lovely renovation, great pools and beach.”

Newly renovated, great staff. They did a great job cleaning the seaweed on the beach although it did start to pile up again by late afternoon.

The AC was cold at first but didn’t stay that way though the night.

Special requests cannot be guaranteed and may incur additional charges. Please note the Resort does not issue refunds for no-shows or early departures. Your suite is being reserved based on the occupancy information entered at the time of your booking. This information is also used to determine the total cost of your reservation. Any changes made to the number of guests in your party may affect the room category you are provided at check in and will also affect your final price. To ensure that your check in process is smooth, please contact the hotel as soon as possible to inform us of any changes to your original booking. Which Suite to Book at Hyatt Zilara

Every room at Hyatt Zilara is a suite. Most guests stay in a 61 m² Junior Suite, sold by view, with a king bed for two or two doubles for up to four. Above those sit the Luxury, Swim-Up and Presidential suites.

SuiteSizeSleepsBeds
Junior Suite61 m²2 or 41 king or 2 doubles
Junior Suite Ocean View61 m²2 or 41 king or 2 doubles
Junior Suite Ocean Front61 m²2 or 41 king or 2 doubles
Luxury Suite Ocean Front71 m²21 king
Swim-Up Suite Ocean View79 m²21 king
Presidential Suite124 m²21 king

The view upgrades cost little. In our mid-November 2026 price check for three nights, a Junior Suite started at $1,816, Ocean View $1,967 and Ocean Front $1,991, so facing the beach directly added only $24 over the Ocean View. In June 2027 the same stay started at $1,502. Guests describe the renovated suites as large and quiet, with a Nespresso machine, a minibar restocked daily and a hot tub on the balcony.

Check the rate label before you book. Hyatt says its rates include taxes, service charges and gratuities, with only a local environmental fee paid at the resort. In our booking system some rates were labelled "Room Only" or "Full Board" alongside the all-inclusive ones; Zilara sells all-inclusive stays, so choose a rate labelled all-inclusive. The resort doesn't refund no-shows or early departures.

What Guests Say About Hyatt Zilara Since It Reopened

Hyatt Zilara scores 9.4 out of 10 across 569 reviews, but most of those were written before the resort closed for renovation in April 2025. We read the 61 reviews with text posted since it reopened, from late May to early September 2026. Of the 68 post-reopening reviews, 56 gave a perfect 10.

The renovation is a hit. Returning guests, including one couple on their 26th visit, describe a modern, clean and calm resort with new pool-level bathrooms, steps and rails into the pools, a new Italian restaurant and a speakeasy bar. That long-time couple did miss some of the old architecture, such as the arches and the lobby waterfall.

Service is the constant. Guests describe staff who greet them by name, a visible general manager who asks for feedback, and an entertainment team that runs volleyball, aqua Zumba and Pilates. Pier 12 is the restaurant guests mention most, along with Bugambilia, the teppanyaki table and the Spices buffet, where one guest found "the best buffet food I have ever eaten at an all-inclusive".

The few complaints are specific. Food is its lowest-scoring category, and some guests found the menus underwhelming. Other complaints: sargassum on summer beaches, warm pools, a swim-up bar only at the quiet pool, an air-conditioner that didn't stay cold, a connecting-room request that wasn't honoured, and two billing errors that took weeks to fix.

What You Should Know

  • Book the speakeasy as soon as you arrive. Guests say it takes reservations and is one of the highlights of the new resort.
  • Pick your pool. Guests describe one lively party pool and one quiet pool, and the swim-up bar is at the quiet one.
  • Check your card statement during your stay. Two recent guests describe duplicate or lost payments that took weeks to sort out.
  • Expect sargassum in summer. Staff rake the beach, but one August guest found it piling up again by the afternoon.

Getting to Hyatt Zilara

Hyatt Zilara is at Km 11.5 on Boulevard Kukulcán, in the middle of the Hotel Zone, a short drive from the airport by guests' accounts. Our Cancún airport transfer guide compares shuttles, private vans and taxis. The Punta Cancún nightlife strip and the La Isla shopping centre are a short taxi ride away.

The beach faces the open Caribbean, with the turquoise water and soft sand the Hotel Zone is known for; summer guests also watched turtles nesting. Sargassum arrives in some summer weeks, so see our Cancún sargassum season guide before you book.
