Presidente InterContinental is a beachfront hotel at Km 7.5 in the Cancún Hotel Zone, on a sheltered bay facing Isla Mujeres. Guests score it 8.8 out of 10 across 3,447 reviews, with 9.35 for location. It is not all-inclusive: you pay for the room, breakfast if you want it, and eat wherever you like. Check live prices for your dates below.
Why Guests Choose It
- The beach: a calm, sheltered bay with fine white sand, palapas and loungers, and guests in August 2026 found it kept clear of sargassum when much of the coast wasn't.
- Not all-inclusive, and priced accordingly: three nights for two in February 2027 started at $800 room-only, with breakfast for both adults adding just $50.
- A breakfast buffet guests rate highly, with an egg station and local and Western options.
- Spacious rooms, many with sea views; one family describes a room with mirrors and a sliding screen that let them see the ocean from the shower.
- Location is its top-scoring category: close to bars and restaurants, with a supermarket about 15 minutes' walk away.
Best for
- Travellers who want a beach hotel without paying for an all-inclusive
- Families and couples who want calm water for swimming
- Guests who plan to eat out around the Hotel Zone
Think twice if
- You want everything included: food and drinks at the hotel are priced high, and guests say so
- You want a modern hotel: several guests found the furniture and rooms dated
- You want activities: guests mention no kids' club and little to do at night

“Ok”
Rather nice hotel. Manuel at the front desk and the lady who manages the towels near the pool were very nice..
However, I was disappointed that the gentleman at the upstairs restaurant served me a dish that wasn't what I had ordered and was much more expensive. When I mentioned it to him, he didn't seem too concerned about it. Also a bit disappointed not to have received a small gesture for my birthday (whereas every other year, other hotels have done so). To conclude a good hotel, but nothing more.

“Very luxurious and relaxing.”
Our room was epic with ocean view and mirrors strategically placed so we got panoramic ocean view including while having a shower! There was a screen which you can slide for privacy or ocean view. Breakfast was also fantastic with local or western options and constantly replenished.
The seaweed removal meant that I could not enjoy the view in peace with the digger moving back and forth constantly. I wondered if it would be better not to remove?? But maybe it would be smelly not to remove?

Which Room to Book at Presidente InterContinental
Presidente's standard rooms are the 34 m² Classic rooms, with a king bed or two queens, sold by view: standard, lagoon or ocean. Above them sit the InterContinental Club rooms, 60 to 65 m², with lounge access, and suites from 60 m² up to a 200 m² Presidential Suite.
| Room | Size | Sleeps | Beds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Room | 34 m² | 2 to 4 | 1 king or 2 queens |
| Classic Lagoon View | 34 m² | 2 to 4 | 1 king or 2 queens |
| Classic Ocean View | 34 m² | 2 to 4 | 1 king or 2 queens |
| InterContinental Club Room (lagoon or ocean view) | 34 to 60 m² | Up to 4 | 1 king or 2 queens |
| Club Signature Room | 65 m² | 3 or 4 | 1 king or 2 queens |
| Suites (Club, Caribbean, Signature, Presidential) | 60 to 200 m² | 2 to 4 | 1 king or 2 queens |
The ocean view is cheap, and so is breakfast. In our February 2027 price check for three nights for two, a Classic room cost $800, the same room with breakfast $850, a Lagoon View room $860 and an Ocean View room $866, all before about 25% in taxes and fees. In June 2027 the same stay started at $666. Guests on high floors describe big sea views, though one found the bathroom's windows left little privacy and another's street-side room was noisy.
Club InterContinental gets good reviews. Guests who upgraded describe a top-floor lounge with free evening drinks and an air-conditioned breakfast room away from the main buffet; one calls it worth the money. In February a Club Lagoon View room cost $173 more than a Classic room for three nights.
Read the breakfast terms. Breakfast-included rates cover adults only; children pay for breakfast at the hotel. One group of five found only the lead guest's breakfast had been recognised at check-in and had to sort it out at the desk.
What Guests Say About Presidente InterContinental
Across 3,447 reviews, Presidente InterContinental scores 8.8 out of 10. Its review analysis rates location (9.35) and service (9.31) highest, and food (7.84) lowest. We read the 72 most recent reviews that included text, from August to mid-September 2026.
The beach comes first. Guests describe white sand, palapas, calm water and a beach raked of sargassum every morning, and several who found the rest of the coast covered in seaweed found this stretch clean. One noted a small roped area where you could swim free of sargassum, and another that the digger clearing it spoiled the quiet.
Breakfast and staff come next. The breakfast buffet is the most praised meal, and guests name front-desk, restaurant and housekeeping staff. The two pools are heated, and one guest found them open until 10pm.
The complaints are consistent. Birds raid the breakfast tables, which several guests found unhygienic. Food and drink prices in the restaurants and bars are high, and some restaurants other than the beach restaurant drew poor reviews. Several guests found the rooms or furniture dated or humid, and others describe slow check-in and little to do for children or at night.
What You Should Know
- Keep an eye on your breakfast. Birds land on the tables and take food, so don't leave plates unattended.
- Ask for a room in the smaller building or facing the sea. One family's street-facing rooms were noisy, and they paid to move.
- Eat out some nights. Guests find the hotel's restaurant prices high, and the Hotel Zone's bars and restaurants are close by.
- Ask about a late check-out if you have an evening flight. One family was given a 1:20pm check-out and access to the spa to shower before leaving.
Getting to Presidente InterContinental
The hotel is at Km 7.5 on Boulevard Kukulcán, at the northern end of the Hotel Zone, between the sea, the lagoon and downtown Cancún. It faces a calm bay toward Isla Mujeres, and the Punta Cancún nightlife strip is a short ride away. Transfers from Cancún airport to the Hotel Zone usually take 20 to 35 minutes; see our Cancún airport transfer guide.
Parking and valet are available, and one guest notes a Chedraui supermarket about 15 minutes' walk away. For the calm-water beaches nearby, see our guide to Cancún's best beaches, and for the summer seaweed season our Cancún sargassum season guide.
